A module based on practical assignments which use illustration as the basis for
graphic design solutions.
Analytical, critical thinking and the appropriate use of the illustration in design.
This involves the exploration of traditional and digital media, appropriate research skills.

Visual communication within society
The research into, and application of techniques and media through practical work.
The production of imagery appropriate for the purpose.
Drawing and its relevance to the subject.
The use of computers in illustrative design.
The value of stylistic influence
The module covsists of a structured programme of visual presentations, seminar discussion and demonstrations of techniques and media.
The major practical component will be the production of illustrated designs for three
assignments, each one dealing with specific issues. This will cover approximately 80%
of contact time. Contextual issues will be addressed in the remaining 20%
The use of research, creative thinking and subject knowledge will be assessed via documentary/sketchbook work, produced in SDS time.
