Through undertaking this module, students will acquire an awareness and an understanding of basic concepts in business, project management and marketing. The module includes activities designed to help students apply basic business concepts to the interior design industry.

|1.||Demonstrate an understanding of the basic tools and concepts of project planning||Produce a project plan to an acceptable standard, including a gannt chart and/or critical path analysis.|
|2.||Gather business information using a variety of sources and use it to produce work of an appropriate standard.||Gather information from a variety of sources, analyse it and use it appropriately in the production of a business plan.|
|3.||Display an understanding of the basic tools and concepts of Marketing||Use marketing concepts, tools and techniques appropriately in the production of a business plan.|
|4.||Prepare basic financial statements.||Produce basic financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss account, cash flow forecast) accurately and in an appropriate format for incorporation into a business plan.|
|5.||Prepare a business plan.
Produce a business plan in an appropriate format.
