This is a team project.
You are required to originate a novel business idea to sell a textile or fashion related product. Develop a business plan then set up and run this business. Members of the team will each take on a specified role within the company. You are required to operate the company keeping records of financial transactions, formal meetings, profit and loss as well as reflecting on how you operated as a team.

Teaching is delivered mainly in the first part of the module where you will be taught skills such as accounting ,business practice and ideas generation. The majority of the rest of the module will be for students to hold meetings and set and develop their business targets. The first assessment will be about eight weeks into the programme and is the submission of a business plan. Students will have mentors available to discuss ideas and the progression of the business. Subsequently regular meetings will be held with mentors who will provide individual advice to each team. At the end of the module teams will give presentations to peers and academics on how they have approached the project, discuss its high points and low points and provide evidence of balance sheets and summaries of meetings.
There are four pieces of assessment, staged though out the module, including both team assessments and individual and peer assessment.
1. Team assessment business plan. (20%)
2. Team assessment records of financial dealings and formal meetings (20%)
3. team assessment final presentation on the workings of the company, success or otherwise of the project etc , in a Powerpoint Presentation and a written report (40%)
4. Individual and peer assessment report on how you and colleagues contributed to the team,. (20%). Students will be asked to allocate a mark to each fellow team member and this aggregated total will account for 20% of marks in this piece of assessment.

Generate dialogue in the form of a personal report, including sensitive and perceptive peer assessment of your colleagues as well as realistic and honest appraisal of your own role.
