The aim of this course is to introduce the context of modern change management approaches, and equip students with the knowledge required to make decisions about change management approaches in an organisational context.
Critical examination of the concept and nature of change, levels and issues
Critical examination of different perspectives on the nature and process of change, and their application in organisations
Identification and management of strategic issues and planning.
Organisational culture, politics and power relationships for the change planner.
Planning, implementing, managing, and assessing change effort.
Critical examination of Individual, group and organizational factors and relationships in change
Critical analysis of consequences and implications of the change process
Current issues and debates and issues around managing change
Critical analysis of programmed approaches to change
Ethical issues in the change processes
Concepts of leadership - reviews basic concepts of leadership and management and seeks to develop personal leadership
Learning sessions will introduce the concepts which will be explored further through case studies which will be analysed individually and on a group basis
Students will submit a case analysis as assessment 1.
The second assessment will comprise of a report which identifies and critically analyses change issues in the student's workplace and suggests an appropriate strategy
