The module aims to enable you to acquire skills and knowledge through work based learning which extend and reinforce your understanding of screenwriting and moving image production;
to explore potential vocational opportunities and consider how you can progress from your studies to work in the wider world;
to explore links between what you have learnt on the course and script development, screenwriting and moving image production in the world of work.
The work based learning can either be with an employer, or on a self-employed/freelance basis, eg preparing work for submission to a competition, festival, commissioning opportunity, or for other means of distribution/exhibition, or working on a community media project.
Supervised by the module tutor, you will be required to research potential placements/freelance schemes, approach potential employers and negotiate your learning contract over the summer before starting your final year.
You will negotiate the learning that you undertake, through drawing up your own learning contract. This is likely to include:
Securing a suitable work placement ;
Negotiating your learning contract with the module tutor, agreeing learning outcomes, programme of preparatory study, details of work placement, times of tutorial sessions and assessment details and deadlines.

LEARNING AND TEACHING
Individual learning contracts negotiated between student and tutor (5 hours) - this should be done before term starts.
Research and prepare application for placement or freelance opportunity - this should also be done before term starts, under the supervision of the module tutor.
