20 credits at level HE5
Through undertaking this module, students will acquire an awareness and an understanding of basic concepts in business organisation and accountancy. It will build on the Textile Supply Chain and Marketing & the Consumer modules and provide a foundation for subsequent studies in management, marketing and product innovation at final year degree level. The module includes activities designed to help students apply basic business concepts to their own company and to the wider textile and fashion industry.
This module is designed for independent, work-based, learning. At the start of the module, students will individually negotiate their own learning contract. Students will then be directed to appropriate learning resource materials (paper-based and/or web-based) covering the syllabus content of the module. Appropriate additional readings, case study work and exercises will be recommended to students in order to help them to explore and apply the syllabus content.
The module will be assessed by means of a portfolio of evidence designed to demonstrate the student's fulfilment of an individually negotiated learning contract for the module.
