This module is designed as a follow up to the Methods of Manufacture -Textiles and Processing Routes - Linen A modules. It will include links to the Processing Routes, Product Evaluation and Product Development modules and provide a foundation for subsequent studies in textile technology and product development at final year degree level.The specific aim of the module is to examine how linen fabric is processed and coloured. to meet local and global market requirements, using appropriate production techniques.

to demonstrate that you have achieved the learning outcome you will:
|1.||Be able to demonstrate knowledge of flax fibre processes, both upstream and downstream from present experience.
||Provide evidence of having worked through the information provided on Linen processes etc and to have consulted other relevant material.|
|2.||Be able to demonstrate understanding of interaction with customers and suppliers and the benefits arising from collaboration.||
Talk or write in an informative way on processing /supplier relationships
|3.||Be able to demonstrate a desire to contribute to success and profitability of a manufacturing operation||Provide evidence of team working skills|
|4.||Be able to recall facts and procedures
- Understand and comprehend reasons for variations in processing routes.
- Apply this understanding in practical situations
|Answer questions and produce facts on manufacturing practice in general and with particular regard to processing of flax fibre into fabric and comparing the process with other relevant manufacturing|
|5.||Demonstrate competent and safe use of machinery with which the student may be concerned, either at college or place of employment||
Provide evidence of safety awareness and some knowledge of the assessment of hazards and risks.
