COMPUTER GAMES SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
The Computer Games Software Development (CGSD) course is for students who are interested in working in the exciting and stimulating games industry. The course is aimed at students have an interest in the more technical aspects of game development. Most of your time will be spent programming, using industry standard software. Students will also learn maths and physics in the context of game development.
MODULE STRUCTURE
LEVEL 1:
Programming for Games, Mathematical Methods, Visual Programming.
LEVEL 2:
Data Structures for Games, Games Hardware Architecture and Peripherals, Mathematical Physics, Software Engineering
LEVEL 3:
Advanced Games Technology, Project, Business of the Computer Games Industry
UCAS INFORMATION
BSc (Hons) - 3 years
240 UCAS points or equivalent. Applicants must also have five GCSE passes at grade C or above including mathematics and English.
BSc(Hons) including HND-3.5 years
and HND - 2 years
120 UCAS points or equivalent. Applicants must also have five GCSE passes at grade C or above including mathematics and English.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
By the end of this course, you will have a portfolio of games that you have created. The Advance Games Technology module gives you the opportunity to work for year on a major game implementation. You will be well prepared for working in the games industry, but your programming skills will serve you well in any area of computing.
